ACTION PLAN:

The NYC Harm Reduction Community will hold a press conference outside the Bronx Medical Examiners office, calling on Governor Hochul to usher in a new era of healing for NYS by passing the Overdose Prevention Package and approving the Overdose Prevention Center pilots. Following the presser, there will be a rally for community members to commemorate loved ones that have died from preventable overdose and speak out against the harms perpetuated by the racist and classist War on Drugs.

OUR WHY:

To commemorate the 5,100 New Yorkers that died from preventable overdose in 2020 alone, and the countless others before that- many of whom wound up at the Bronx Medical Examiners office. For far too long, the Bronx has been the hardest hit and the most overlooked when it comes to the overdose crisis. On this day, we will honor those that have died by calling on Governor Hochul take action to prevent future overdose deaths in our community by: signing the Overdose Prevention Package bills and approving the long overdue Overdose Prevention Center Pilots.
