A LIFE WELL LIVED | HOWARD JOSEPHER

Dear Friends,

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved co-founder, Howard Josepher, who left us on April 16, 2025. Affectionately known as Howie, he was a pillar of strength and compassion in the field of addiction and recovery, dedicating his life to helping others and transforming our community through the work of Exponents.

Throughout his time with us, Howie touched the lives of countless individuals affected by HIV/AIDS, substance use, and behavioral health challenges. With unwavering support and heartfelt commitment to recovery, he inspired hope, resilience, and a sense of belonging in those seeking to reclaim their lives.

As a visionary leader, Howie founded Exponents to create a safe space for healing and empowerment. His innovative programs, starting with ARRIVE, and his advocacy efforts have left an enduring legacy: impacting tens of thousands of New Yorkers.

Not only was Howie a dedicated advocate, but he was also a cherished friend and mentor. His warmth, wit, and powerful voice will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In this difficult time, we invite everyone to join us in honoring Howie’s remarkable life and the profound impact he made on all of us. We encourage all who were touched by his spirit to share their memories and celebrate the legacy of love and hope Howie leaves behind by emailing kwilliams@exponents.org to leave a comment.

Let’s keep Howie and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

With heartfelt sorrow,

The Exponents Family
